After completing his Articles with BDO Spencer Steward in April 1997, Rob spent the next eight and half years in the UK and USA working on various assignments. Highlighting some of those roles abroad, included 2 years for BDO Seidman in Atlanta as an Audit Supervisor, a one year special project for the British Parliament, and a one year project for Sport England to set up a new payroll system. Rob performed various other roles as a project accountant, moving through several organisations improving systems and processes within Banking as well as Commerce and Industry. Rob also completed his mortgage and financial advisory exams in London and worked as a Wealth Manager during his last two years in London.
In 2005, Rob moved back to South Africa and took on a Project Accountant role at Stanlib. His career took a turn towards Recruitment and Resourcing when he was approached at the end of 2006 by an International Recruitment company to head up their Banking and Financial Services team in Johannesburg. Rob assisted to turn this business around and found that his passion for people and desire to make a difference to South Africa and its economy was of utmost importance and left to set up Redi Recruitment two years later. Redi Recruitment has grown exponentially and become one of the well known recruitment companies in SA.
Rob has contributed to articles in the Star Workplace as well as Homecoming Revolution, where his drive has been to bring the 'brain-drain' back to South Africa. Rob's global exposure from his time in the US and UK, as well as his networks within the senior levels of industry combined with Eric van Gils' reputation and qualities within resourcing aim to deliver a professional executive search and advisory service through Holbourne Advisory.
