The 21st PWC CEO Survey reveals optimism by CEOs globally with a majority of CEOs believing economic growth will improve.
Some of the highlights which relate directly to South Africa are :
37% of South African CEOs believe they will grow their headcount in the year ahead and 41% plan to keep headcount constant
76% of South African CEOs are concerned about the availability of digital skills among their workforce, 70% concerned about digital skills in their senior leadership team
61% of South African CEOs have indicated it is difficult to attract digital skills
Digital skills continue to be a challenge for corporates and the most popular strategies to attract or develop digital talent are modernising the working environment and implementing new flexible ways of working.
Biggest threats to growth in South Africa
South African CEOs see social instability as the biggest threat to their organisations growth prospects for the year, where globally CEOs fear over-regulation and terrorism are the biggest threat to growth in their businesses.
