The 2018/19 2018 ITWeb Brainstorm CIO Survey spoke to 170 CIOs at C-Level across South African industries. CIOs are understandably experiencing significant change in their space and are seeing this change accelerated by changes in the strategic direction of business, digital migration, demand for innovation and migration to cloud being some of the key drivers of this change.
When asked what their biggest concerns were when it comes to supporting their businesses, two factors stood out head and shoulders above the rest :
The inability to implement fast enough to meet business goals
Lack of skills
39% of CIOs indicated one of their key focuses for the next 12 months will be to attract and recruit key skills with a majority of CIOs are predicting an increase in their IT budgets for the year ahead.
Our clients continue face the challenge of identifying and attracting critical IT skills in the local market. The war for talent has can now be called the “War for Tech Savvy Talent” with most roles across corporates requiring decent exposure to, experience in and knowledge of technology.
